If there is a high risk of lightning strikes in your area, Ferroamp recommends installing a surge protector for Ethernet near your EnergyHub. This is to protect it from lightning strikes that may come in through your internet connection*. For complete protection, we recommend maintaining a distance of up to 15cm between the lightning protection device and the EnergyHub.

Below is an illustration of how it could look when installed in a villa with an EnergyHub 7/14kW:

1. Property's internet connection
2. Patch cable between surge protector and EnergyHub
3. Ethernet port in the property
4. Input on the surge protector
5. Ethernet cable connected to your internet connection
6. Output on the surge protector
7. Connection of the surge protector to the grounding system

*In this scenario, it is assumed that a standard surge protector for your electrical connection to the public grid is already installed, providing protection for your EnergyHub from that direction as well.
