If there is a high risk of lightning strikes in your area, Ferroamp recommends installing a surge protector for Ethernet near your EnergyHub. This is to protect it from lightning strikes that may come in through your internet connection*. For complete protection, we recommend maintaining a distance of up to 15cm between the lightning protection device and the EnergyHub.
Below is an illustration of how it could look when installed in a villa with an EnergyHub 7/14kW:
- Property's internet connection
- Patch cable between surge protector and EnergyHub
- Ethernet port in the property
- Input on the surge protector
- Ethernet cable connected to your internet connection
- Output on the surge protector
- Connection of the surge protector to the grounding system
*In this scenario, it is assumed that a standard surge protector for your electrical connection to the public grid is already installed, providing protection for your EnergyHub from that direction as well.
