Answer:
Follow the steps below to calculate the number of SSOs you need in the SSO calculator:
- Check the list to see if the intended solar panel is already added.
- If the panel is not listed, select the next tab labeled "Solar panels". Within this tab, you can input the specifications for the panel you intend to use. Then press "Add solar panel". The new panel will now appear in the list under [1]. All datamust be STC values.
- Specify the number of solar panels you will install and choose how they will be mounted.
The SSO calculator will now automatically update the maximum number of panels per SSO and the number of SSOs required in the installation.
Note! Generally, when calculating the number of SSOs in a Ferroamp installation, you can approximately calculate the number needed by dividing the recommended maximum string voltage (720V if the panel current is under 12.5A) by the solar panel's Vmpp voltage. This gives you an estimated number of solar panels that can be connected to an SSO.
The SSO calculator performs the same calculation but also takes into account the temperature coefficient. So, at a low temperature, the maximum Vmpp voltage of the panel will be higher than nominal. The SSO calculator thus provides the number of recommended SSOs based on the SSO Vmpp max, not the SSO Vmpp nominal calculated manually.
