Can I power my EnergyHub with a backup power generator?

Answer:

It is possible to power the EnergyHub with a backup power generator. However, it requires that:

  1. The backup generator must maintain a stable frequency; otherwise, the EnergyHub may trip due to the grid code requirements it adheres to. The maximum frequency change rate (df/dt) is 2 Hz/s. Generally, a larger generator is better so that it does not slow down if a larger load is connected. In previous tests, a 50 kVA generator was used.
  2. Current transformers must be positioned so that generator connections are measured. Simply put: Grid - Generator - Current Transformers - EnergyHub - House loads.

  3. The EnergyHub must be configured to disallow any export.
