How can I control my EV charger in the Ferroamp system?

Answer:

If your charging station has implemented OCPP 1.6-J and has been verified by Ferroamp, EnergyHub can act as a dynamic load balancer for your electric vehicle charging. The EnergyHub system will then, by specifying your main fuse size, ensure that charging your car never causes a tripped main fuse.

You also have the option to set additional limitations on how much power can be imported by the property to charge your electric vehicle, thus avoiding unnecessary peak loads. The EnergyHub will measure the property's consumption, and if it exceeds the import limit you have set, the car charging will be dynamically restricted or paused until available power is restored.

You can also schedule this power limitation using our scheduling function, for example, allowing the car to only charge with solar power during the day and allowing higher import from the grid during the night when electricity prices are generally lower.

See below for an example of how to set a power limit for your charging station.

Example:

  1. Activate the button for Limit Import. If the operating mode is set to Default or Self Consumption it is the Import Threshold that determines the power limit and if the operating mode is Peak Shaving the threshold is set for Discharge Threshold.
  2. To activate the settings, click on UPDATE in the left window.

In the case above, the EV:s charging will be limited if the consumed power from the grid is higher than 14 kW.

NOTE! If the power output is limited to 0 W, charging the electric vehicle will only be allowed if there is surplus solar power production.
