Answer:
A static IP is assigned by adding an exception to the DHCP functionality in your network router and setting it to always assign the same IP address to the EnergyHub. The router identifies the EnergyHub by its MAC address, which can be found along with the serial number on the silver label attached to your EnergyHub. It's this MAC address that should be assigned a static IP address.
For rack cabinets, it's the MAC address of the display that should be assigned a static IP address. Instructions on how to set up a static IP on your router can be found in the router's manual or in an FAQ on the router manufacturer's website. If not, you can contact their support for assistance.
It's also possible to set the network settings in the EnergyHub to a static IP via the display. In this mode, the EnergyHub will always request the same IP address. However, problems may arise if the router restarts and the IP address requested by the EnergyHub is assigned to another component in the network. If this happens, the EnergyHub will not have an internet connection, which is why we recommend setting a static IP address through the router.
