Is there a requirement for a separate DC breaker in Ferroamp's DC network?

*NOTE: The information below is directed towards installers. Only trained electricians are allowed to install Ferroamp’s products.

Answer:

There is no requirement for a separate DC breaker in the EnergyHub system. However, a DC breaker can be advantageous for tasks such as disconnecting the DC network during service and maintenance work. It can be placed on the outgoing DC cable from the EnergyHub between the EnergyHub and the rest of the DC network. In Ferroamp's DC distribution, there are DC breakers that are approved load disconnectors. If the DC distribution is easily accessible near the EnergyHub, these can be used as DC breakers in the system. However, if the DC distributions are mounted near the SSOs, for example, on a wall near the ceiling, a separate DC breaker near the EnergyHub can facilitate the disconnection of the DC network.

The DC breaker should be rated for 1000 V DC and the maximum theoretical currents it needs to interrupt. This is calculated based on the maximum power that can be transmitted through the cable, considering the maximum power that can be delivered by the SSOs and battery.
