What cable should I use between my EnergyHub and the electrical panel in the building?

*NOTE: The information below is directed towards installers. Only trained electricians are allowed to install Ferroamp’s products.

Answer:

The choice of AC cable for an EnergyHub depends on the size of the EnergyHub being installed and:

  • How much power the EnergyHub will switch
  • How much phase balancing the EnergyHub has available

Full phase balancing means that the maximum current in the neutral conductor can be up to 1.7 times the maximum phase balancing value.

The table below provides an overview of the maximum current that can flow in the neutral conductor and how much the cable must be able to handle (at least).

Example:

So an EnergyHub Wall 14 kW can handle a 5G6 cable maximum power and full phase balancing current for all installation methods as long as the distance to the electrical panel does not exceed about 50 meters. We recommend using flexible cable with multi-stranded conductors to facilitate installation. For example, H07RN-F.
