Phase balancing, ACE, stands for Adaptive Current Equalization and is the English name for the patented technology we call dynamic phase balancing. You can read more about how it works here.
Phase balancing can be used both to protect your main fuse and to make power available for charging an electric vehicle. Therefore, what you set the current threshold value to depends entirely on the purpose of phase balancing, as the current threshold value determines when phase balancing should be activated.
In order to protect the main fuse we recommend generally to set the current threshold to 75-80 % of the size of the main fuse. See the table below.
Main fuse | Current Threshold |
16 A | 13 A |
20 A | 16 A |
25 A | 20 A |
35 A | 28 A |
50 A | 40 A |
63 A | 50 A |
>63 A | 10-20 A below the size of the main fuse |
To make power available for electric vehicle charging, we assume that most electric cars require at least 6 A per phase for the charging to start at all. Therefore, we recommend setting the current threshold value to >8 A, based on the main fuse size.
See example below regarding how to activate the ACE function as well as setting the current threshold
Example:
- Set the current threshold value. The Current Threshold determines when the system will start phase balancing.
- Make sure the button, as seen below, is green (Green = on, Gray = off).
- To activate the settings, click on UPDATE in the bottom of the window.
