What function does the battery serve in the Ferroamp system?

Answer:

There are several ways to use your battery in the EnergyHub system.

  • It can be used to increase self-consumption of solar energy by charging the battery during the day and discharging it when solar panels stop producing.

  • It can be used to reduce power draw from the grid by peak shaving. The battery is allowed to charge when power consumption in the property is low and then discharged when consumption is high.

  • Through our scheduling function, you can use the battery in different ways based on the day of the week and time of day. For example, the battery can be charged from the grid overnight when electricity prices are generally lower, then discharged in the morning when prices are higher. It can then be recharged during the day when there is a surplus of solar energy production and discharged again in the evening.

  • The battery can also be controlled via external programs through our open API. However, these solutions are not provided or supported by Ferroamp. We enable it by opening up the API.

  • With a battery, it's also possible to participate in SVK's frequency market through aggregators. This means that part of the battery's capacity is made available to help maintain the frequency of the grid.
